Nollywood actor, writer, and director Ikechukwu Nweke has publicly disclosed that he is battling colon cancer, made an emotional appeal for financial assistance as he continues treatment.
In a heartfelt video shared on his social media pages, Nweke revealed that he was diagnosed with the disease in 2025 but chose to keep his health struggle private while undergoing treatment.
According to the actor, the cost of fighting the illness has become overwhelming despite months of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medications, and several medical procedures.
Nweke disclosed that he has already spent more than ₦15 million on treatment. However, he said doctors have recommended another phase of care to improve his chances of recovery, left him unable to shoulder the growing financial burden alone.
Calling on fans, friends, colleagues, and well-meaning Nigerians, the actor appealed for donations and prayers, said every contribution would go a long way in helping him continue his fight against the disease.
His revelation has sparked an outpouring of support across the entertainment industry. According to him, several Nollywood colleagues, including Destiny Etiko, Uche Nancy, Lizzy Gold, and Ebele Okaro, have offered financial assistance and words of encouragement since news of his condition became public.
Sharing his account details for support, the actor said, “Good morning, good afternoon and good evening from wherever you are watching me from, I was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. I have been trying so hard to manage it privately. I have spent a lot of money and my family members have contributed a whole lot. People close to me like Destiny Etiko, Uche Nancy, Lizzy Gold, Ebele Okaro, among others have also been supportive.
“Unfortunately, my battle is not over yet. My doctors have advised that I must continue with the next phase of my treatment to give me the best chance of a full recovery. I cannot afford to stop or skip this stage, but the financial burden has become overwhelming.
“Today, I’m humbly asking for your help. No amount is too small. Your support, your prayers, and even sharing this video can make a real difference in my fight for life,” he said
Known for his work as an actor, screenwriter, and filmmaker, Nweke has featured in numerous Nollywood productions over the years, earning recognition for his contributions both in front of and behind the camera.
