Emeka Rollas apologises to Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko, Rita Daniels: What led to his U-turn
SHARE

Emeka Rollas has apologised to actress Regina Daniels, her mother, Rita Daniels, Senator Ned Nwoko and several colleagues over comments he made publicly during the highly publicised marital crisis between Regina and Nwoko in November 2025.

The former Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) president said he had reflected on the controversy and now regrets “the timing, the platform and the manner” in which he addressed the matter.

His apology comes almost a year after his explosive intervention in the couple’s dispute and at a time when renewed speculation about Regina and Nwoko’s relationship has once again put the former couple in the spotlight.

However, while Rollas has described his latest move as an attempt to choose “peace, reconciliation, dignity and respect,” Regina’s mother has previously denied that her daughter’s recent visit to Nwoko’s residence meant the estranged couple had reconciled.

What Happened Between Emeka Rollas And The Daniels Family?

The disagreement between Emeka Rollas and the Daniels family grew out of the very public marital crisis between Regina Daniels and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, which erupted in October 2025.

The situation became public on October 18, 2025, when a video of a distressed Regina circulated online. In the video, the actress accused Nwoko of violence and said she could no longer tolerate what she described as violence in their marriage. Nwoko denied the allegations the following day and instead alleged that Regina was struggling with drug and alcohol abuse. He also claimed that her alleged substance use had contributed to violent incidents at home and said she needed rehabilitation. These were allegations made by Nwoko, which Regina disputed.

The dispute soon moved beyond the couple. On November 4, Regina alleged that some of her siblings had been arrested at Nwoko’s direction and accused him of using his influence against her family. Her mother, Rita Daniels, subsequently entered the conversation, making serious allegations against Nwoko and defending her daughter. The following day, Regina also defended her mother, saying Rita had warned her against marrying Nwoko and asking the public to stop attacking her.

By the middle of November, the disagreement had become a much wider public controversy involving allegations about the marriage, Regina’s wellbeing, her family, Nwoko and, increasingly, people within the entertainment industry. On November 18, Nwoko said publicly that he did not want Regina back in his home, maintaining that his major concern was getting her to undergo therapy and rehabilitation.

It was against this backdrop that Rollas, then president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), broke his silence on November 20. Rollas said he had deliberately stayed out of what he regarded as a family matter, but felt compelled to speak because his name had been dragged into the controversy and because both Regina and Nwoko had direct links to the guild. Regina was an AGN member, while Nwoko was the chairman of the guild’s Board of Patrons. Rollas also said Regina and Rita were people he personally knew.

His intervention, however, went beyond simply explaining his position. Rollas defended himself against claims surrounding the AGN, criticised Nwoko for taking aspects of the marital dispute to social media, questioned Rita Daniels’ focus on AGN politics while her daughter was going through a difficult period, and called out several actors whom he said knew what had happened but had remained silent.

He specifically mentioned Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko and Sanni Danji, saying they had been present on a film set involving Regina and had allegedly seen some of the events he was referring to. Rollas said the silence of those colleagues left him to face criticism alone after he became involved in the controversy. In his words:

“Many senior colleagues are aware of the truth surrounding recent events, yet they have remained silent.

I am calling on those who were present at the last series shoot and fully aware of what is happening: Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, and Sanni Danji. You were all on set during the last production in question. You saw things firsthand, especially regarding Regina, and we all know she needs help.”

“I say this respectfully, if your daughter’s home and health are in distress, AGN elections should not be your priority.“

That November 20 statement became the source of the apology Rollas has now issued almost a year later. Looking back, he says he may still hold some of the convictions that informed his intervention, but regrets “the timing, the platform and the manner” in which he chose to address the matter.

Regina Daniels Fired Back

Regina Daniels

Rollas’ comments did not go unanswered. Regina responded publicly on November 20, 2025, strongly rejecting his description of her situation and defending her mother.

She questioned Rollas’ conduct as AGN president and accused him of failing to do enough for actors during his tenure. She also criticised his decision to discuss her personal and family matters publicly. One of her strongest reactions was directed at his assertion that she needed help.

“There must be something wrong with you sir! to say I need help?”

Regina also accused Rollas of being ungrateful to her family, claiming that her mother had supported him over the years. She further questioned his motives for speaking about her marriage and her mother’s AGN ambitions.

Why Is Emeka Rollas Apologising Now?

Almost a year later, Rollas has taken a very different approach. In an apology posted on October 8, 2026, he acknowledged that he had genuinely believed in the issues he raised at the time. But he said that looking back, he now recognised that being right about an issue did not necessarily mean he handled it correctly.

He added that his biggest regret was not necessarily having convictions, but the way and timing of expressing them.

“I regret the timing, the platform and the manner in which I handled it.”

Rollas said the people he addressed were individuals he had worked with, related with and, in some cases, considered friends. More importantly, he acknowledged that he had spoken while a family was experiencing what he described as “a deeply personal and difficult period.” “I should not have taken that path,” he admitted.

The Encounter With Rita Daniels Made Him Reflect

According to Rollas, a recent encounter with Rita Daniels also played a role in his decision to apologise. He said the meeting was coincidental and happened while some people were attempting to make peace between the two of them. Rather than allowing the encounter to pass, Rollas said it gave him another opportunity to reflect on everything that had happened.

It appears that reflection eventually led him to revisit the words he had used almost a year earlier and reconsider how he had handled the dispute. He therefore chose to apologise without attaching conditions to it.

Who Did Emeka Rollas Apologise To?

Emeka Rollas

Rollas’ apology was broader than Regina and her mother. He specifically apologised to Rita Daniels and the Daniels family; Ned Nwoko and his family; Regina Daniels; the AGN Board of Trustees; and the colleagues and former aides whose names he mentioned during the controversy.

He named Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji, Agility, Nazareth Jesse and others. He added:

“Whether or not anyone chooses to accept my apology is entirely their decision.”

That line is significant because Rollas did not demand forgiveness or suggest that those he offended were obligated to accept his apology. Instead, he presented it as his own responsibility to acknowledge what he believed he had done wrong.

Rollas Stands By Some Of His Convictions

The apology does not mean Rollas has completely withdrawn everything he said in 2025. In fact, he made it clear that:

“I may still hold my convictions about some of the issues I raised then, but I take responsibility for my actions and my timing.”

In other words, his position appears to be that he can still believe some of the things that prompted him to speak out while admitting that his public handling of the matter was wrong.

Simply put, he wasn’t making a complete retraction. Instead, he is apologising for how, when and where he spoke, rather than claiming that every concern he raised at the time was false.

The Apology Comes Amid Renewed Reconciliation Claims About Regina And Ned

Regina Daniels | Ned Nwoko

Rollas’ apology comes at an interesting point in the story because attention has once again shifted to Regina and Nwoko. In September 2026, Regina was seen at Nwoko’s residence, sparking widespread speculation that the estranged couple had reconciled.

However, Rita Daniels subsequently clarified that Regina had gone to the residence to see her children and that the visit should not be interpreted as a reconciliation.

Regina’s sister, Destiny Daniels, also said Regina remained single. Neither Regina nor Nwoko had personally confirmed that they had reunited.

From Confrontation To Apology

The November 2025 controversy was driven by accusations, public responses and a growing number of people being pulled into a private family dispute. Rollas’ latest statement attempts to close his part of that chapter.

He did not ask the Daniels family, Nwoko or his former colleagues to agree with him. He simply accepted responsibility for the way he handled the situation and left the decision to forgive him with those involved. He ended his statement with perhaps the simplest summary of his position:

“I am human. I made a mistake. I have reflected. And today, I say sincerely: I am sorry.”

For a controversy that began with Rollas publicly explaining why he felt he had to speak, his latest move represents the opposite approach, acknowledging that sometimes, even when a person believes they have something important to say, the timing, platform and manner can matter just as much as the message itself.
