Celebrity On-Air Personality, Toke Makinwa, has revealed that her “born again” parents died in an explosion just after morning devotion.
The 34-year-old socialite lost her parents in a gas cylinder explosion at their Abuja home in 1993. She was eight, her father was 35, and her mother 34.
In a tweet on Friday, she said she could not understand why such happened to her parents who were godly people.
“Losing both parents at 8 was traumatic, they were born again, heck we just finished morning devotion when the explosion happened, I couldn’t understand how the God they served so much will let them down just like that, still don’t. I was told not to question God but I was hurting,” she wrote.

Toke Makinwa’s parents were buried side by side in Idanre, their hometown in Ondo state. After the death of her parents, Toke and her siblings moved into the house of her eldest aunt in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The popular broadcaster is divorced after being previously married to fitness expert, Maje Ayida. They got married in 2014 and separated in 2015 when news broke out that Maje had impregnated his ex-girlfriend.
Maje attempted to save the marriage with a public apology in July 2015, begging Toke to forgive his indiscretion. The marriage officially ended in 2017.
