PHOTOS: Mob parade solar light battery thief in Bayelsa

It was a narrow escape for a young man who would have been banished for stealing solar light battery in Igbedi community in Kolokuma Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.

The suspect identified as Powei Cyril was apprehended while perpetuating the act in the early hours of Tuesday,October 5 at Royal Fm road,  Agudama Epie by some vigilant members in the community.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the suspect was stripped down almost naked and recieved fifty strokes of cane after which he was paraded around the community with a placard inscribed with his name and “profession”

Titus Asuevieme who uploaded the photos and story on his social media platform told newsmen that the suspect was not banished because this is her first criminal offence

“This guy,Mr powei Cyril from igbedi community in kolokuma opokuma lga, residing in Agudama Epiewas caught stealing solar light battery in Royal Fm road Agudama Epie around 4:30Am he was given 50 strokes of the cane,he is not banished from the town cause this is he’s first criminal case,he has been”

In other news, men of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 29-year-old man over armed robbery and possession of arms and ammunitions.

The suspect identified as Emeka Ngwu was arrested at a motor park after informations and credible security reports were succinctly followed by the Police.
