Kogi records first ever cases of coronavirus

Kogi State has recorded two cases of the novel coronavirus.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said this Wednesday night.

It was the first time that positive results were confirmed for Kogi since the outbreak in Nigeria – exactly three months ago.

In its tweet, NCDC announced 389 new patients and 5 new deaths.

The new cases are in 22 states of the federation.

The top five are Lagos – 256, Katsina – 23, Edo – 22, Rivers – 14 and Kano – 13.

There are now 8733 cases; 2501 have been discharged and 254 deaths recorded.

Coronavirus has affected over 5.7milliom people and killed 356,000 across several countries.

Almost 2.5million have recovered from the pandemic that sparked a global crisis.

Meanwhile, as it stands only cross Rivers State is yet to record Coronavirus case in the country with the presidential taskforce on Covid-19 saying the state has local capacity to test COVID-19 disease and that the state was also grappling with other challenges like inadequate surveillance, dearth of personnel, and other logistical problems
