Grammy nominated Nigerian singer, Burna Boy has revealed why he gave his best shot with an epic verse on the remix of the popular South African Jerusalema song.

The hitmaker who sang in a mash up of English, Nigerian Pidgin, Yoruba and Zulu languages for his verse on the track, stated that the song might not unite Africa but efforts individuals put towards achieving that.

Burna Boy further stated Africa was not in competition but he hoped dancing together could put people through misunderstandings.

“I’m especially attracted to songs that go deeper than the surface. I had to sprinkle some Burna sauce on there.”

“Honestly, I hope everyone just vibes to the song, whether it connects to them below the surface or not. It’s an incredible mash-up of cultures and languages.”

“We can only do our part individually to work towards uniting Africa, a song may not fix that, but the principle is what’s important, seeing beyond the lines and borders, you know?”

“My hope is that it unites us through our divisions and misunderstandings and dance together. We are not in competition, we are one Africa, we are united,” he said in his submission.
