Majek Fashek to be buried in US

Late legendary Nigerian music, Majek Fashek will be buried in New York, United States where he died.

The announcement was made in a video shared on Monday, on August 10 by Majek Fashek’s first child with his ex-wife Rita.

His son thanked the musician’s fans and well-wishers for their love and support, and further revealed that they were forced to take the decision of burying the late reggae icon in New York due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Recall that Majek Fashek died on June 1, 2020 at the age of 57 while battling esophageal cancer.

Four days after the death of legendary singer, Majek Fashek, his family called on the public to assist financially to bring his body of the deceased reggae legend back home in Nigeria for proper burial.

The plea was made on behalf of Majek Fashek’s family, by the former member of the House of Representatives, representing Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency and music enthusiast and owner of U&I Records, Agbonayinma.

Agbonayinma pleaded for Majek, a music legend and Africa’s pride not to be buried like an ordinary man. He said;

“ With the support of the family, the children, we are looking at how we can bring him to Nigeria to be buried here. This is going to cost quite a lot of money, especially with the challenge of COVID-19. So, we are trying to raise fund.
