On Sunday, March 1, 2026, a prominent gospel singer named Taiwo Adegbodu passed away. 


His twin brother, Kehinde, disclosed the news of the devastating loss, sharing an emotional tribute on a Facebook page jointly owned by the duo.

Gospel performers, like Esther Igbekele, have shared poignant condolences to Taiwo Adegbodu, a gifted musician who has made significant contributions to the evolution of gospel and Tungba music.

As colleagues and fans grieve his untimely passing, here are twelve facts you probably didn’t know about Oyo-born gospel singer Taiwo Adegbolu:

He was born alongside his identical twin brother, Kehinde Adegbodu, on the 4th of March, 1980

He was born into a Christian family that nurtured his faith and musical talent from a young age

He started his musical career as a choir alongside his brother, Kehinde, which shaped their signature twin‑harmony style and deep connection to Yoruba worship music

He pursued higher education at the University of Lagos, where he studied business administration and marketing, balancing academics with his growing ministry involvement

He, alongside Kehinde Adegbodu, released their debut album, “Faratimi (Lean on Me),” in 1999, which catapulted them into the national gospel scene

He is married to one woman, and the union is blessed with two children

He, alongside his twin brother, Kehinde, had performed at countless church concerts, crusades, and gospel events across Nigeria and abroad

Many young artists have credited Taiwo Adegbodu as their mentor, showing praises on the deceased as a very humble fellow

He has a very close relationship with his twin brother, Kehinde Adegbodu

He has won several music awards both local and national

He was serving Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Entertainment and Tourism before he died

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of Taiwo Adegbodu’s death has not been made public, and details of funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
