Aisha Yesufu, a human rights activist, has declared her intention to contest the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial seat in the 2027 general election.

Her declaration follows her resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and subsequent defection to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The move comes days after former Governors Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi adopted the NDC as the platform for their 2027 presidential campaign.

Yesufu announced her defection in a statement shared on her verified X handle on Wednesday, describing her decision as one taken at a critical time for the country.

Aisha Yesufu now joins Omoyele Sowore, Adams Oshiomhole, Pelumi Olajengbesi, and Randy Peter Akah — activists who transitioned from civil advocacy into formal politics.
