Nigeria records 593 new cases of COVID-19, total now 50,488

As Nigeria continues its fight against Coronavirus, 593 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded.

This was disclosed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) via his Twitter official page on Wednesday night.

According to a tweet from the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Plateau State recorded the highest number of cases, with 186 cases, followed by Lagos State with 182 cases.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) followed with 62 cases.

Other states recorded as follows:

Oyo – 27

Delta – 25

Rivers – 20

Ondo -19

Edo -18

Kaduna – 17

Enugu – 12

Akwa Ibom – 10

Ogun – 7

Abia – 6

Gombe – 6

Kano – 3

Osun – 3

As it stands, the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria is now 50, 488  with 37,304 patients discharged and 985 deaths recorded.

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that at least seven students of Government Girls Secondary School Doma, have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of students infected with the virus to eight in the state.

Gombe State Commissioner for Education, Dr Habu Dahiru, made this known on Wednesday.

Newsmen had earlier reported that an unnamed student of the Government Science Secondary School Gombe, who tested positive for the virus, began his West African Senior School Certificate Examination from the state isolation centre on Monday.
