Lagos hospital where Kyari was treated, 5 others shut for COVID-19 exposure

Lagos state government reveals hospital where Abba Kyari died

Six private hospitals in Lagos have sent messages to their patients and visitors to the hospital to self-isolate if they have visited the hospital recently as they have been exposed to COVID-19.

The hospitals, now under lock, have been decontaminated by the state government. They include: St Nicholas, Lagos Island branch; First Cardiology Consultants Hospital, Ikoyi ( where Abba Kyari died).

St Edwards Hospital, Ajah. Vedic Lifecare Hospital, Lekki; County Hospital, Ogba and Premier Specialist Hospital, Victoria Island.

In a separate message sent by the hospitals, the staff and family members who may have visited the hospital or staff who may have been in contact with anyone who visited any of the above-listed hospitals were urged to self-isolate and call the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

In a letter signed by the Clinical Director of St Nicholas, Dr Ebun Bamgboye, the hospitals will suspend services for two weeks. The facility was decongested on the 18th and the suspension of service commenced on the 19th.

Alternatively, Bamgboye said, patients will be attended to through telemedicine.
