A pastor, Otobong Emerson in Benin City has been arrested for defiling four minors aged between six and 11, three of them siblings.

The oldest sibling is nine years old, and the youngest six.

Otobong Emerson, 48, of Believers’ Ministry Church Incorporated at No. 146, Upper Owina, off Evbuotubu, Benin City, was among several suspects police paraded for various crimes in Edo state on Friday.

Speaking with reporters, he said that after sexually abusing the minors several times, he had to confess to his church general overseer because he grew a conscience.

“After sleeping with them for several times, my conscience started judging me, so I went to confess to my G.O. I don’t know what pushed me. I don’t really know what wrong with me, I really feel sober for my deed,” he said. He blamed the devil for the act.

Meanwhile, the Police gender unit had been investigating him, and he has made a confessional statement, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor said.

“The case has been charged to court and the suspect remanded to police custody and to appear in court on adjournment day on 11th June, 2020”.

The police also paraded one Joshua Aiworo, 38, and his wife, Blessing Ogieva, 25, for selling their two months old baby to one Felicia Imaguomaruomwan at N300,000.

Nwanbuzor said the police have recovered the baby and afterwards took him to an orphanage home at Oka, Upper Sakponba road in Benin City for care.
