Borno’s budget for 2022 is presented by Governor Zulum at N267 billion

Borno Gov. Babagana Zulum presented a N267 billion budget for 2022 to the state House of Assembly on Tuesday for approval.

Zulum presented the “budget of Hope for Post-Conflict Stability,” which he said was made up of N172 billion in capital expenditure and N95 billion in recurrent expenditure.

He stated that the budget was intended to expedite ongoing reconstruction of destroyed communities for the safe and dignified resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), as well as to provide livelihood and social support to the people.

“The budget will be funded by anticipated recurrent revenue of N113 billion from FAAC allocation and increased IGR, as well as capital receipts of N154 billion from loans and grants,” he said.

In 2022, the government plans to establish new technical schools in Borno, as well as rebuild and reopen some schools destroyed by insurgents, according to Zulum.

“We will also construct Centres of Excellence, which will include identifying two current secondary schools in each of the state’s three senatorial zones and converting the six schools to world standards,” he stated.

Zulum also announced a N22.9 billion allocation to Works for the construction of a number of roads throughout the state.
