Dr Adetokunbo Pearse, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Lagos, believes the party’s new National Working Committee will usher in better days (NWC).
This was stated by Pearse, the Convener of the Reset Lagos Peoples Democratic Party, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos.
He was reacting to the inauguration of the PDP NWC led by Dr Iyorchia Ayu on Friday.
According to him, the PDP has survived disintegration and now has the chance to leave a progressive country to future generations.
“The PDP has learned its lesson from being in power and in opposition.”
“It has been tried, tasted, and can be attested to.”
“Our best days are still ahead of us.” “We still have a chance to leave a progressive country for future generations,” said Pearse, the 2019 SDP Governorship Candidate in Lagos State.
Ayu, he claims, has advised PDP members to keep hope alive.
“The Peoples Democratic Party’s new National Working Committee is advised to not only read, but also digest and embrace the recommendations of its Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu.”
“Members of the PDP National Working Committee must not abandon the democratic principle in all of its tenets.”
“They need to hear from people all over the country.”
Pearse urged the new PDP national officers to recognize the advantages of restructuring, which he defined as the decentralization of government offices for easier access.
He stated that restructuring entailed devolution of powers to states in order for them to enforce laws enacted by their state legislatures.
According to him, restructuring Nigeria entails diversifying the economy so that states can explore, develop, and market their natural resources for economic development.
According to NAN, Ayu, a former Senate President, was elected PDP National Chairman during the party’s national convention in October.
