The Inter Community Forum (ICF), Enugu State Chapter, has promised to ensure that their members maintain peace and harmony with their host communities.
The President of the Forum, Mr. Lawal Omotowo, made the pledge on Thursday in Enugu when they paid condolence visit to the family of the late Sarkin Hausawa, Alh. Idris Ado Suleiman who died on July 4th.
Omotowo said the host communities in the state had been wonderful, considering the mutual understanding and cooperation between them.
He appreciated Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for creating enabling environment for them to do their businesses.
“The Forum comprises community of ethnic groups that are domicile in Enugu State. We have the Yorubas, the Tivs, the Igala, the Idom, the Hausa, the Fulani, the Urhobo, the Plateau and the Edo.
“Our members are very law-abiding people, because anybody living in a place and started growing wings has a problem.
“We have academia in our midst, like myself, I am an Engineer by training. We have diverse group of people that make up the community, who are very reasonable.
“Anybody causing problem in his host community does not know what he is doing in the first place.
“So, we obey the law of the land, we know the culture of our host and abide by it,” Omotowo added.
The ICF President described the death of the late Sarkin Hausa as a “big loss” to the group, stressing that the late Idris Ado was seen as the father of the Forum.
He pointed out that aside being a prominent member of the group, the late Sarkin was the chairman, Northern Chiefs in the South East and South South region.
Omotowo then urged the bereaved family to uphold the legacies their late father was known for and asked God his soul eternal rest.
