The Kogi Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) on Saturday inaugurated N14. 8 million in water and education projects for the Gboloko community in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi.

The sum is for the drilling of a borehole to assuage the perennial water scarcity in the community and the completion and furnishings of a stalled examination hall for Gboloko Community Secondary School.

Chief Momoh Dauda, General Manager of the agency, disclosed this at the inauguration of the community micro-projects in Gboloko

Dauda explained that the two projects were part of the 45 basic service infrastructure interventions across communities in the 21 local government areas of the state being supported by Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES).

He further disclosed that the borehole would require N6.8 million while the completion and furnishing of the examination hall for the school would take N7.99 million totaling N14.8 million for both projects expected to be completed in two months.

“As we present the cheque for N14.8 million to you as handlers of these two important projects, you must avoid diverting the funds.

“The very contracts documents we just signed here today are legal bonds and covenants between the community and the agency and must be followed to the letter.

“This is because the intervention is aimed at ameliorating the hardships being faced by the community members in accessing clean and safe drinking water and at the same time create environment conducive for learning,” he said.

According to him, the community is the first to benefit from the NG-CARES for the year and urged the Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) and sub-committee members to make judicious use of the project funds with proper bookkeeping.

Dauda said that with the inauguration by signing commitment documents, “we expect quick commencement of work on the projects for their completion within the stipulated time frame”.

Dauda commended Gov. Yahaya Bello of the state for his unalloyed support for the agency.

Responding, the Etsu Bassa-Nge, retired Brig.-Gen. Abuh Alih, commended the agency for choosing the community as the first beneficiary of the N-CARES Basic Service infrastructure interventions in the state.
