He said the taskforce would be made up of combined law enforcement agencies to tackle the lingering security challenges faced by residents in the council.
“The council understands the level of security challenges, that’s why we are clamoring for community policing to ensure the entire nook and crannies in the community are free from crimes.”
“But efforts have been put in place to form our formidable security taskforce to nip in the bud the security challenges facing the community”
“This event will also be factored as a social services direction in the promotion of good governance” he said.
He said that the successful conduct of the stakeholders meeting would add value to the quality governance in terms of informed plans and programmes targeted at sustainable socioeconomic growth and development in the council.
Egunjobi said that the council had achieved tremendous success in various sectors irrespective of challenges facing it.
Chief Wakili Sunmonu, the Baale Pananda, Pencinema Agege, in his remarks, urged the local government to provide lasting solutions to the security challenges around the area.
“We need adequate security enforcement in the Pencinema area, it is like the hoodlums want to take over the area because they operate both day and night” Sunmonu said.
Alhaja Taibat Tijani, the Agege Market Leader, in her contributions, appealed to the government to ensure adequate security within the market places in Agege Local Government.
Tijani added that the havoc created by these hoodlums within the market places had affected some of the traders in Agege.
“We want the local government to provide light for us in the markets to prevent the activities of the hoodlums within the market places”
“We also want public toilets because both traders and customers find it difficult to ease themselves in the markets,” she said.
Chief Shuaib Afogunlowo, Baale Dopemu Area in Agege, urged the council to provide water and accessible roads to the community.
According to him, each ward in the area needs boreholes in order to reduce the effect of scarcity of water in the community.
One of the Community Development Committee Leaders, Musiliat Olaseeni, also appealed to the government to intervene on the exorbitant charges being charged by the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).
Olaseeni added that during the stakeholders meeting with LAWMA, N350 was agreed per room in the community, but the officials of LAWMA increased the amount to N500 without the consent of the residents.
She also appealed to the Government to help reverse the amount to formal price for the benefit of the residents.
