A member of the House of Representatives,(APC-Ikorodu), Mr Babajimi Benson, on Saturday empowered his constituents with 30 mini-buses and other items.

Other items shared during the programme include tricycles, sewing and grinding machines.

Also distributed at the programme are motorcycles, vulcanizing and tailoring machine, deep freezers, generating sets, as well as fans.

Distributing the items, Benson, who is also the Chairman, House committee on Defence, said the gesture was to enable the beneficiaries engage themselves in businesses and become self reliant.

“Today is a very happy day for me, surrounded by my people, this empowerment is one of my biggest achievements.

“Those who benefited today should utilise the items well and those who have not benefited should be patient, as it will soon get to them, because they are my priority now.

“I am determined to have a legacy project as it was done by my parents, bringing Voice of Nigeria (VON) to Ikorodu.

“As for me, I decided to establish Ikorodu radio as the first community radio in the division to consolidate my family legacy,” he said.

The lawmaker said that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from all the local governments and local council developmental areas (LCDA’s) that make up constituency

While appreciating his constituents for their support, the lawmaker encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the empowerment tools.

Benson highlighted some of the projects that had been executed and completed by him, just as he  promised to embark on new ones soon.

“I have constructed and completed not less than 30 roads in Ikorodu and we are embarking on Erunwen-Ajose road in our next phase.

“I have also started the construction of an 80-bed space hospital at Imota area and plan to build a stadium at Lagos State Polytechnic Iin-Ikorodu, as requested by my constituents” he promised.

Benson urged the people to  come out en masse during the 2023 General Elections.

He urged: ”They should come out and vote for All Progressives Congress (APC)candidates, at all levels.

”I am hereby promising more dividends of democracy to Ikorodu residents.”

Also speaking, Mr Ibrahim Obanikoro, lawmaker, representing Etti-Osa federal constituency commended Benson for the gsture.

He urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items doled to them.

Obanikoro, congratulated the constituency for ”having a hard working lawmaker who has impacted greatly to the lives of people.

”He has touched lives of people through the empowerment programme. What you are seeing now are dividends of democracy,”

Also Speaking, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu said history had repeated itself, adding, ”Benson’s family had brought lots of projects to the community that stand as their legacy.

”The empowerment programme is a huge success in the division and the lawmaker has touched many lives in different ways.”

Miss Idowu  Bilikisu, one of the beneficiaries urged her colleagues to use the items given to them to improve their lives
