The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac, has urged youths to contribute their quota to promote good governance in the country.
Isaac made the call at a one-day Citizenship and Leadership Training Programme for youth leaders in Lafia on Thursday.
The training was themed: “The Role of Nasarawa State Youths Towards Establishment and Promotion of Good Governance: 2023 in Focus”
The commissioner said that if youths contributed positively to good governance, it would not only promote development but would also promote peace in the country.
He described youths as pillar and backbone of every society, hence the need for them to channel their energies towards good governance in the country.
Besides, Isaac enjoined them to shun negative acts at all times and to contribute positively to nation building.
“I want to commend the convener of this programme as it will go a long way in boosting their leadership skills to ensure good governance in the near future,” he said.
The commissioner restated the state government’s continued commitment to initiate youth friendly policies and other programmes that would improve on the lives of the youths.
Mr Moses Otundo, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on Security, and Mr Musa Ayas, SSA on Community Development, also urged the youths to conduct themselves peacefully at all times.
The duo urged the youths and other people of the state to support the Sule’s re-election in 2023.
Earlier, the Convener of the Programme and Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor on Youth Affairs, Mr Shuaibu Sani, said that the programme was designed to train the youths on leadership skills and their roles in the society.
Sani said the programme was also designed to remind the youths on their roles as nation builders.
